Has anyone towed with a Chevrolet Captiva 2.0l Auto. It would be a perfect match for my Lunar Clubman ES as I would be towing at 78%. But I prefer personal opinon, whether they are good or bad.

quick answer is no. my father in law has the vauxhall version, also automatic and it has a towing limit of 1700kilos. 300kilos less than the manual version, which i take to mean the gearbox is a potential weakspot. that's my educated opinion only, i may be wrong.

I have the vauxhall antara, all but the same as the captiva.
i had a discovery td5 gs auto (facelift) for three years and had no issues whatsoever.
last year i changed it for a vauxhall antara cdtis auto.
i can put my hand on heart and say that although i loved the disco, i have no regrets at all with the antara, and thats in all aspects.
a very under rated towcar imho. certainly more stable than the disco.

320nm @ 2000rpm
150bhp
1967kg mass in service kerbweight
1700kg max tow (87%) 2000kg for the manual
80kg nose weight
self leveling rear suspension
manual selection on auto gearbox (5 gears)

as for the auto reducing the max tow i am not concerned as the tow limit is more than enough fo most.
i have contacted vauxhall in the past regarding this and the fitment of an additional cooler, they have no reported concerns.

Thanks for your replies. I have had a look at the Vauxhall website and the Antara, looks very nice. i will have to see if I can get the boss to have a look.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Captiva 2.0 diesel with a manual gearbox and tow an ElddisOdyssey 544 with absolutely no problem at all. I think this is a very under-rated motor and excellent value ,would recommend it to anyone
