I'm thinking of petitioning our local MP to introduce a Summer Fuel Allowance, to assist with the running costs of Air Conditioning.

Outside temp here is 14dec but the house temp is 25. If the outside temp ever gets to what my daughter in the south gets...29/30...then we will melt inside.

I like to think that 30C is a nice comfortable temperature if the humidity is low as it is the humidity that affects body temperature. I had no issue working in 40C, but it was very dry however at 28C and high humidity it was time for a cold beer in doors to enjoy air con!

26.5 C indoors with curtains closed. Will open loft access tonight to clear some heat. Not looking forward to going into garden to flash up the Weber. BBQ last night with family so tonight’s is just the two of us. Tomorrow’s who knows who will rock up for eats and drinks. Sheer hell this climate change.

Yes, humidity is important to comfort. Our ventilation system keeps the humidity indoors between 40-60% all year round. Currently outside is 89% and inside 49%.

Unfortunately the ventilation system is design to minimise heat loss so doesn't help with cooling. A couple of years after we installed it the next version had a summer bypass option which bypassed the heat exchanger allowing cooler outside air to come in directly.

I remember being in Death Valley and parts of Australia where temperatures where in the mid forties but the humidity was low enough to make it more tolerable.

I would think that in Tenerife the humidity woudl be very high making it very uncomfortable. Although when we lived in Durban the humidity was very high, it was nothing in comparison to the Zambezi valley especially in all your camo gear. Hat with neck nape was an essential.

In hot weather we keep the windows and doors closed as long as possible as that traps the cooler air inside. In France and Spain during the day you will often see the shutters closeed for that reason.

Guess that you won’t be visiting SE Asia anytime soon?

We just keep the house closed up with curtains and blinds drawn, then begin to open curtains as the sun moves around. Late evening we open the loft hatch and downstairs doors and windows. We have a good fan in the lounge and my wife migrates to another bedroom and also uses a fan. The dog gets walked early and I do any gardening before the sun comes around, but we spend more time outside under parasols and these last few nights have had a bbq supper outside. So we are quite enjoying the warm spell.

Very similar to us, but we had to give up sitting under the parasol. There was a pleasant gentle breeze, but every now and then it turned into a strong gust blowing over the parasol. Yesterday we had burgers as it was only 28C outside so a bit cool however today it is supposed to go up to 32C so time to get the BBQ going again.

We felt sorry for daughter and family as yesterday they moved into the their brand new home and they did all the moving themselves. Lucky for them they have two big strapping sons to help. I bet SIL sank a few frosties last night! LOL!
