Delay in replying as still enjoying the wonderful Scottish sunshine in the van! Been absolutely glorious for over a week now!
On the way north, got a call from Coachman's Trevor Baxter and he said it is being arranged that PSS http://www.plasticshowerspecialists.co.uk/ will do the shower base warranty work at home, so no need to take the van anywhere. Still not heard from PSS yet to arrange appointment, but could be due to mobile reception not so good up here.
I've heard good reports from PSS, so hopefully all will be well, but I'll report back
Don

Really sorry to hear that. Where abouts has it cracked? I think the front panel is common to all of that year, and although mine is a year later I think the panels are the same, so it's handy to know where to look for possible damage.
To be honest, although it's all hassle that no one wants, I'd much prefer the factory to do a repair like that than trust it to a dealership. I wanted the factory to repair my shower, as I wasnt too keen on a dealership repair, I think that's why they have arranged for PSS to do it, as they are doing them all the time.
Hope it all works out...

Hi Keith, you must have posted while I was still writing. Glad to hear that your problem should be solved at home too. Let's know how it goes.
As a matter of interest, you mention "monsoon weather". Were you towing in it? We've just back from Fort William and the weather was fantastic, but towing home there were a few really heavy showers. I notice a few drops of water below each of the 3 front windows. It was really heavy rain with associated spray, so not sure if it's a problem or not. I suppose I can mention at the service in June.
Cheers
Don

Hello Don,
We were lucky and most towing was dry, although on the way back today we went through some large puddles resulting in spray all along the nearside of the van, and on a previous Swift we found wet in the cupboard under the cooker when we got home after similar weather conditions, it had got in via gas drop vent.I haven't checked the windows on the front of the van, although it needs a thorough wash, so will see what a good soaking does at the weekend.

I have had PSS carryout a replacement tower in my Pastiche, last year, the 2 guys who do the repairs are very good, Barry carried out my repair it was that good it looked like it was original, it was cracked due to the cold pipe being trapped between the outside wall and the shower panel, Glad Coachman paid for the replacement costs as it would have cost £366. I had to wait about 8 weeks as the guys "collect" the jobs up by location and travel around stopping in hotels each night. If you need to check up on the status, just give Yvonne Pepper a call and she will let you know, if you do not have her number try this one 01482 650864 or email her on pss_showers@hotmail.com

You will not be able to move the van for 12hours or so, to allow the bonding to cure.

Hello Kiaboy
Do I take it from your posting that PSS mend the crack by using some sort of plastic welding/bonding process, thus avoiding the need to remove or replace the original unit.

Not in my case, they replaced the whole corner pod, after cutting the old one out, it is the bond they use to join the panel to the plastic shower wall

Tried to load a couple of photos but the site is not letting me.

Update on shower problem

Today we were visited by gentleman from PSS and our shower now looks better than when we bought the van. He has resealed the cracked area and identified another hair line crack which has been sealed together with the complete shower tray wall join. They phoned several times before arriving and seem to have done an excellent job.Time will tell once the shower has been used, but for now we are pleased with the way Coachman organised the work.

I have a 2009 Coachman VIP 545/4, bought in 2010, and the Coachman warranty re-assigned to me. Over the Jubilee weekend, I used the shower, for only the 3rd time (we usually use the site facilities) only to find the panel behind the door had a crack right across it. Called in at the dealers on the way home. They had serviced the van just the week before, and were surprised they hadn't noticed it. But then, who looks behind the shower door, unless you are using it! They took photos and details for a claim to be made. Very interested to read this thread, and hope there is a positive outcome.
