Consumer Rights

Three years ago our electrician fitted a new extractor fan . The Manufacturer give a 5 year warranty/ guarantee. It failed making a terrible noise. I sent them a video and they wrote back saying the thrust bearings on the motor have failed.
I asked for a repair or replacement for a diy fit.
They asked me to tell the electrician . He’s away long term , semi retired. Told them this and asked for a replacement again. No reply, chased them again and awaiting a reply.

What do you think my next step should be?
Are Manufacturers guarantees worth the paper they are printed on?
I can’t see , 3 years on, how the electrician can be liable?

It’s a catch 22. I had a new shower pump supplied and fitted and it had five year makers warranty. But after it failed in year 4 the shower company didn’t want to know, but eventually agreed to remove it and reinstall it post repair. We agreed it would be one job so I only paid the first hour high labour rate and the reduced rate thereafter.

I’m trying to see if the manufacturers guarantee links in with my rights under CRA. I’ll investigate further, write to the manufacturer again and update you as and when.
Thanks for your replies👍
