Cordless Drill - what's best?

If you use a cordless drill to lower/raise your steadies, what make do you use and would you recommend it? I've looked in the PC product review and the JCB 12v came out well, but the review is dated 2004.

I have used several top brands such as Bosch but at the moment I am using the ALDI 18V one

It comes as part of a set comprising the drill,a detail sander, a jigsaw, a torch and a smaller rechargeable drill.

This is complete with 2 18V batteries and various accessories all for

I agree, just about any cheapo drill will do, if all you are doing is winding down the steadies. Most of them are of the same quality these days, but try to make sure you get two batteries with it, just in case one fails.

Forgot to say that the Aldi drill also comes with a 1 hour charger.

Some cheaper drills only come with a 3 hour charger

I use a Bosch 18 volt, but only because I have one for DIY. For caravanning only I'd go for a cheapo, but would choose one with a torque setting, as this provides a convenient way to avoid overloading the steadies

Sorry can't agree that drills have the same battery.

My 5 year old Bosch drills have batteries that Bosch have replaced in newer drills at least twice.

Black & Decker are different again

My Makita batteries are totally different and the Aldi ones are different again.

Aldi recently had a promotion on the same drill posted above and that comprised 2 speed drill with torque setting,1 hour charger and 2 18V batteries for

I use a 24v bosch, you cannow get the batteries that don't have a memory so you can continually recharge and they last forever
