If the daughter's family have to go into the quarantine, for the three of them it is going to cost over £5100 for the 10 days as the 14 year old is treated as an adult.

Looks like it is already in. Let’s face it, it is not possible to keep new strains out.

The good news is that oil prices took a dive following the announcement of the new strain. 😄 Wait a few weeks, months, and top up at less cost then go home to a warm house.

Face coverings will again be mandatory in shops and on public transport - but won't be required in pubs and restaurants.
What surprises me is masks are not required at Football stadia, theatres, cinemas.

It's illogical - socialising in pubs/restaurants is just where Covid would spread quickest - so it's still "too little, too late" mismanagement by HM Government.

However by the same token, if the government makes it mandatory to wear maasks in pubs or restaurants it will face another backlash. Either way they cannot win!
We have continued to wear masks in shops. For pubs and restaurants perhaps masks to be worn until seated and smaller groups than 6. If the introduce measures to draconian for hospitality trade, I doubt if many businesses in the hospitality trade would survive another crackdown.

Too many contradictions for me. SWMBO was at Villa Park with 48000 supporters, no masks. I expect doors and windows will have to be left open again. Imagine what will blow out of Clive’s house if that happens😉😉

I'm quite laid back today. Wife, daughter and granddaughter off in Bath for shopping. I am now number 36 down from 53 on the British Gas chat line, as they have cancelled a service appointment for daughters home for the second time, and her GSC runs out 8 December. I sit here on the MAC dare not even go for a comfort break in case the Chat Agent should appear, and I miss them, and I am then relegated to the bottom of the queue. My parents and grandparents didn't have to put up with this "valued customer user experience"

I remember those old family days , no gas central , ice on the windows, huddled around the kitchen coal fire boiler or lounge log fire, all windows and doors sealed with draft excluders.
we certainly had a “ customer user experience”😜😜

At least we had a bathroom with a bath inside the house. I do remember one relation used a tin bath in front of the fire at one time though before they converted a spare bedroom into a bathroom.
I do remember the living room being one of only two in the house with heating, and the other was not my bedroom. My mother does keep reminding me that once she looked in my room and found me covered in snow and still asleep.

Severe migraine not good. Maybe you should do as you were told by nurse. A chap here ended up with a headache. Blood clots. They buried him four weeks ago😥😥
