Homee, I have a 2006 Diesel [old shape] and before that I had a 2002 Petrol.

The diesel is by far the best tow car I have had. I also use it for business and have done over 50,000 miles in less than 2 years and except for servicing it has never been near a garage. The front tyres lasted 40,000 miles and the rears are still legal.

It tows my 1350kg MPTLM van well and I have never had a hint of instability. It is better than the petrol in that the power is available at lower revs. The delay in the rear wheel drive coming into operation is minimal and hardly any front wheel slip compared to the 2002 one. I am able to use 5th / 6th gears on the flat at the legal limit, in 4th it has plenty of power.

I get about 38 - 40mpg on solo driving and I somewhere around 28-30 towing.

I have to remove both the rear wheel cover and the alko stabaliser handle to hitch / unhitch but I have never found it a problem - just slide the handle back on to remove the tension on unhitching and aooly the tension on hitching.

Hi

I have a CRV diesel 56. We have just bought a 2006 Bailey Oklahoma which which we collected yesterday. Like you I was a little apprehensive but it towed like a dream. We collected it from Gloucester and brought it back to near Portsmouth. We went up the steep hill from Gloucester to the Air Balloon pub on the

A417 like a dream and I used all 6 gears on the flat.I normally get 38-40 MPG and on this trip back got 24 towing but I think i can improve on that as I was in a hurry as I wanted to get home before it got dark. With regard to the hiching. The spare wheel gets in the way but you can either reverse in at an angle or better still open the door a bit and then you miss the spare wheel with the stabilizer.

As far as the car goes Ive had Mercs BMWs Jags and to be honest I think the CRV is as good as any of them and cost half the price new.

Good luck Ken

Hi, my son has a 05 CRV diesel and gets around 40-42mpg on his regular commute on the M4. I used it to tow the 1400 Bordeaux and the outfit was very stable and with the CRV weighing less than the Sorento and with about equal power the acceleration on M roads and pull on hills was noticeably better.

Cheers
