damp meters

just a tip if you have an eletrical meter setting it on ohms & pressing the probes into the walls of the van will give an indication of dampness by giving a resistance reading, the higher it is the worse the damp.not highly accurata but a good indicator

apologies apologies it of course should read the higher the resistance reading is the lower the damp content OOO would mean no damp

sorry again 000 reading would be severe damp, no reading shown as --- = no damp

As Tony points out, the method is not accurate for a number of reasons,

How far do you press the probes in, and how far apart,

Given a reading what do you make of it.

No wooden surface is 100% dry so you will get some reading. The conditions such as humidity, and temperature, the type of surface you are testing, along with any surface covering will affect the reading.

You would need to be a real expert to be able to interpret the reading you get

Do not rely on it as method of establishing the moisture content of your caravans surfaces.

We have one of these damp meters. But when I saw it left little holes i didn't bother.

Don't really fancy a spotty interior
