Hi everybody!
Just been chatting to an old couple about their caravanning experience. They bought a caravan in 2006(unsold 2004 model) and have experienced the cracking of both the front and back panels (obviously I am unable to name the manufacturer as this will be blocked from the forum). This has been rectified under warranty. However, during their last service, several weeks ago, the engineer found that the middle front window had a serious delamination fault. An assessor was called and he said: "I doubt this will be covered on your warranty, mate!", before swanning off. Luckily the new window, which they had to order arrived yesterday. This was fitted this morning (at the cost of an eye-watering £400).
Does anyone think that this problem might have been activated by the fact that the front panels, which were originally ill-fitting and caused cracking, could have caused stress problems on the window?
Could I advise anyone else who purchased a caravan from a well-known caravan manufacture (models between 2004-5) keep an eye out for this problem, especially those who have had the panels replaced.
They have hit nothing from brick walls to brick walls when trying to find out why this happened. The manufacturer doesn't want to know as they say: "The windows are only cover for a year from new!".
I find it difficult to understand that delamination would 'just happen'! If this is the case, perhaps we should all check our 'vans on a regular basis.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Ann
