Detachable Towbar for Facelift Sorento

These are still not available from Brink or Witter who seem to have a contract with Kia to supply them.

The vehicle was first launched in July 2006 (I think)and still not a detachable towbar from the major companies. Mine was ordered on 13 November 2006.

I can only wait about 2 more weeks and then I will have to get a standard towbar fitted instead, as my first annual service is due on the caravan.

I think this is absolutely pathetic.

Jim I am having the same trouble with my new Santa Fe! Got an e mail off witter to say I can order off Website but website says it is due mid january. Bosal and Brink don't list one! How balmy. But get this - on Witter site in the new bars bit I can buy a removable one for the Chevrolet Captiva. This is the car I had been waiting for to replace my Frontera that was due out last year, got delayed twice and is now not due to go on sale in UK till the summer!!

So I can get a bar for the car I cannot get - and I canoot get a bar for the car I have now bought. Well not removable anyway. I am going on a rally in a fortnight so will have to go for a fixed one which I don't want or borrow my Frontera back from the garage if they still have it.

If you call Brink UK sales on 0870 333 2968 they are due in on Monday but until the lorry lands they can't guarantee it !

You could try www.brinkweb.com and one of the European offices as I'm told the Sorento detachable bars are on the web sites and available direct via mail order ;-)

I have already phoned Brink and emailed them about my concerns, although the responsibility is with the dealer as he agreed to provide a detachable towbar as part of the deal when purchasing the car.

The contact at Brink says the Towbars are in Holland but did not know when they would be available in the UK. Maybe you have more up to date info. I am waiting for a reply to my email, though I may now phone again next week.

A friend is waiting for the bar as well as he needs the car working, I saw your post and called him. He called Brink direct yesterday shortly before my post and that is what he was told, "Monday" but they will not know until the lorry arrives!

He assures me that somebody he met at the dealers had got one mail order from Europe and has it fitted.

Thanks for the information, I feel a bit more confident that I may now get one before my caravan service
