In Spring/early Summer this year we spent three months exploring northern and eastern Germany. Our route was Calais/Delft/Bremen/Hamburg/Luebeck/Baltic Coast/Binz on Ruegen Island/Neustreltiz/Potsdam-Berlin/Dresden etc. Marvellous! We are going back to the island of Ruegen next year.

See 'Tour of Germany 2007' on http://www.keith.mercer.dsl.pipex.com/Caravan_Touring.html for full details of sites and places visited etc.

We have travelled from Venice up to Austria many times it is an easy journey all on Motorway but do not forget to get your vignet for the roads in Austria at the Italian/Austrian border.

There are some wonderful sites on the Ossiachersee. We always stop at Jodl. We will be there for 1 month this year.

The journey from Ossiach up the motorway to Salzburg is good easy in 1 day.A good place to stop in Austria is on Mondsee at Austria Camp and if you want to go into Germany and visit Bertchesgaden and the lovely pituresque village of Ramsau, just outside, it is a lovely day trip. Also Salzburg is worth a day trip too of course. The other way from Mondsee you have the wonderful scenery of Wolfgangsee which is worth a day trip including a boat trip to Wolfgang itself. Home of the original White Horse Inn.

From Mondsee you can travel along the autobahn to Munich past the Chiemsee and after Munich make for the Romantiche Strasse or along the other autobahn to Innsbruck and then to the Black Forest near Wolfach there is a 5 star site named Alisehof which is excellent very helpful owner. From there the journey to another 5 star site of Prumtal Camping at Oberweiss near Bitburg is excellent to. If you want to visit the Moselle Valley you can peel off near Trier to do this and then go to Oberweiss and then it is a good journey up to Belgium/France where we usually stop a night before catching the Tunnel home.

Hope this info helps.

There are two main routes into austria from venice, A4 into A22 or A4 onto A23. Depends where you want to head for innsbrook,or salzburg.

If you are doing a grand tour then the A23 Past udine into Austria, would fit the bill.

Yes, toll free would be travelling on the B100/B110 on the Austrian side and SS52/SS13 in Italy.
Stayed at a campsite on the Island of Krk in Croatia last year - cant think what it was called - but was the main one - 5 min walk from the town. Was very clean - would need to book.
