Easy Coachman question!

Just when I fully understand all the systems on our Swift Challenger we decide to change our van and I’m back to square one!!
So, we take delivery of our 2023 Coachman Laser 575 Xtra on Tuesday and despite reading the manual have a simple question I can’t find the answer to.
We have the usual Coachman / Seattle panel fitted and I need to know when the panel is completely shut down (when we leave the van to go home for a week or so), will the leisure battery continue to be charged if the van remains connected to the mains via the EHU cable.
Many thanks.

I don’t know. My Bailey uses almost the same panel. As we are on a permanent site it would be nice to keep the battery topped up. Most on our site leave their vans plugged into the post. But for the 3 month winter shut down, I thought this was unessessary. So I put the lead away out of the elements.

I am trusting that the 100 watt solar panel will be doing its job even over the winter. I will find out at the begining of March.

An interesting question. Not knowing your electrics system, I would think the best way to. Check would be to switch off your electrics as if you were leaving the van, and check across the battery terminals, with a multimeter for a voltage in the area 13.5 to 14.5, this would then show that the battery is being charged.

On most caravan electrical system the charger connects directly to the leisure , via a 20A fuse , same for the output from the solar regulator via another fuse ,as Hutch says easy test is to measure battery voltage directly with a multimeter with charger on the voltage will be about 13.8 V once disconnected the voltage will fall slightly

Like on my caravan I have two Solar Panels on the roof , but I switch everything off but we have put a 4 ply breathable waterproof cover on because it near a tree .
So will that still be charging ?
