I believe eBay introduced new rules last year which seem to hurt the private seller, in the name of buyer protection. This is copied from the Google overview, but I believe it is correct. I've only included the sections relevant to this post:
"As of October 1, 2024, UK-based private sellers on eBay no longer pay final value fees or regulatory operating fees, except for motors (cars, vehicles, and motorcycles). However, there are changes to free listing allowances and other fees, including a Buyer Protection fee for private sellers from February 4, 2025."
"Removing cash on pickup: As of October 1, 2024, the option for buyers to pay with cash for items will be removed, and all payments for local items will go through the site. "
"A Buyer Protection fee will be added to listings from UK-based private sellers, starting February 4, 2025. This fee will be included in the item price and paid for by the buyer. "
"From February 4, 2025, eBay will hold private seller funds for 14 days if the order is posted with an un-tracked delivery service."
