There are a number of problems.
Cargo ships are having problems docking because of the worldwide HGV driver shortage resulting in unloading delays.

Taiwan drought[edit]

Taiwan is the leader of the global semiconductor industry, with TSMC alone accounting for more than 50 percent of the global wafer foundry market in 2020.[10] In 2021, Taiwan experienced its worst drought in more than half a century, leading to problems among chip manufacturers that use large amounts of ultra-pure water to clean their factories and wafers. For example, TSMC's facilities used more than 63,000 tons of water a day, more than 10 percent of the supply of two local reservoirs.[11]

There’s loads more. We are stuck with these problems fora long time I suspect😥

I think Dusty is probably right, There are multiple reasons why chip production has been interrupted and delayed. Not least the fact the car manufacturers actually reduced their orders when C19 hit, so the chip manufacturers redeployed their facilities to furnish new orders from elsewhere.

Even though the main wafer and chip manufacturers have well established processes, When starting up a new run the failure rate large scale integrated circuits (e.g. Microcomputer CPU chips) is often fairly high, so they prefer to set long run productions so they can tune their facilities to maximise production success. Even changing back to an established design may take several weeks to restabilize their processes.

Even bigger problems now that Taiwan has been hit with a 6.2 magnitude earthquake. As mentioned previously this is the problem with putting all your eggs in one basket.
