European cover on car insurance

Can anyone help us, our car insurance is up for renewal and as we are planning to travel around Europe for 6 months we are looking for European cover for this length of time. The maximum we have found is 90 days, on asking advisor if this could be extended was told he didnt know the answer but his advise was to come back to the UK for a day and then go back to Europe for a further 90 days. Obviously this is not viable, so does anybody know of any insurers that will cover 180 days.

We are with The CC & with there insurance you get 180 days cover abroad with each yearly period.

I think SAGA also covers for 180 days but I don't know if their Policies are age related.

I have my Insurance with NFU Mutual(national Farmers)They cover Europe for unlimited temporary visits which I would presume would cover your situation they were also
