Hi Kevin, I think the max tow is 1400kgs so if you are experienced it shouldn't be a problem.I tow an ABI brooklyn 490/5 with my c-max 2.0ltr auto petrol. It's max tow is 1300kgs and the vans mtplm is 1300kgs.The car weighs 1445 kgs and I have never had a problem towing, in fact it tows brilliant.

I tow an Adria Adora plus 532UP whose weight is probably about 1400 kgs in the config I tow it in (vs 1490 max tow weight in teh handbook). The only problem with the C-max is the clutch is a bit lightweight, so don't try backing the 'van up a slope on wet grass, it really doesn't like it!

I have to agree there, my last car was a manual and the clutch gave off a foul smell even in traffic when solo and worse when reversing the van up my drive. No bother now with the automatic c-max.

You'll find the C-Max a wonderful towing vehicle. I tow a 1450 kg fleetwood Volante with it, and my main problem is keeping the speed down- you don't know the van is on the back. If you know the Cat&Fiddle, I was towing up the steep bit at 55, and catching up to cars!

The downside is that the front wheels are a bit light with such a big van on, so it's a bit frisky on country lanes in the wet.The other problem is wet grass, for the same reason. However, I have'nt had any problems reversing it- it's sometimes the only way to get it off wet grass anyway.

Expect 30mpg+, but you'll only get that in 5th @ 56 mph. Cruise control would be good!
