I am currently looking to change my towing vehicle to A galaxy.Need mare space for 5 of us!

My caravan Elddis Elusion is 1650Kg (double wheel base) the Galaxy looks to be able to tow 2000Kg.

But there are a few version 110bhp & 130 bhp, I assume the 130 will be better suited to the weight of van?

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Fogot to mention it will be 2002 - 2005 model of Galaxy

In your year bracket you will find a 115 bhp version and the 130 bhp version [there are also a few 150 bhp version]

They all have the same torque [pulling power]consider the Seat Alhambra as well, its the same vehicle really and usually a few quid less, as all these beasts seem to hold there value well!

having just changed from a 115 to a 130 to pull our 1500kg van, they do a competent job although the VW diesel engine is rather noisy when compared to rivals, they are normally very reliable and not too costly to keep in good service.

We have a SEAT Alhambra 1.9 TDI (115) 5 speed auto. Tows our 1500kg Abbey a treat. Would recommend these cars as tow cars, I also tow a boat which weighs nearer the 1800kg, and again no problem towing, even on slipways which can be quite steep.

we have a swift challenger 530 weight 1350kg the Galazy that we have seen to tow is a 2.0. tcdi 140hp would this tow our caravan ok. We are hoping for the 2010 model.

We've got a 2009 2.0TDCi S-Max which is very similar to the Galaxy (all the same underneath and even the handbook is the same) - pulls our 1420kg van easily - max tow weight 1750, towball load 90kg.

Have the 130 Galaxy towing 1500 kg Indiana with no probs.Doesnt l;ike reversing,clutch fluid vaporises and they are well known for clutch and dualmass flywhell probs.There was a recall for this.I find ours very economical saw 52 mpg on the computer today at 65mph on motorway(solo of course lol)
