Just back from a 6 week tour of Spain and France. Covered 3000 approx and averaged overall 34.2 towing an Avondale dart 525. Of course some of the miles were without the van but the first 1000 was with the van and roofbox on the car and averaged 32.1mpg which was great - better with the box on than without.

Really pleased with the car as it never missed a beat. Have to clean the exhaust recirc valve again as it puffs black smoke when you accelerate but it made the trip more enjoyable and cruised easily at 60.(rode better at 60 than 50) Might change the rear springs though as it is low at the back. Tried reducing the nose weight but it doesn't ride so nice then.

Hi we have the same car only just bought it recently and so far I have not had any problems we tow 1400kgs and on the motorway are getting around the 37 -38mpg mark which is quite reasonable and we are gettinghigh 50s solo. The car has plenty of power and torque. Enjoy your Mondeo!
