Forum Poll

Forum Poll, just like it says on the tin. Recently this forum changed the way posts were, accepted and displayed. Before the change, all posts were scrutinised and if found acceptable would be included on the Forum. We now use an honour system where we can post whatever we like within the guidelines stipulated in the "Forum etiquette", with the Moderator cleaning up afterwards. What we would all like to know is, was a good move, are you enjoying yourself more or less? So I propose a simple poll that should be allowed to run its course, as there may be a time difficulty for some.

The question is, are you happy with the way this forum is being run?

Please give a short and concise answer, if you feel the need to comment further, please use the comments box of your own vote. I shall post mine first as an example. Remember, it is time to have your say in this matter; you don't have to go to a polling booth, so use your chance to vote.

I would like it to be a bit more light-hearted with all the abuse taken out when people have different opinions and experiences. It's often not WHAT is said but HOW it is said.

I'm quite happy with it
What everyone needs to remember is that we are all from different walks of life, lets face it we've got everyone from company directors to street cleaners (no disrespect) on the forum and we are all thrown together into the melting pot.

What I'm trying to say is that the only thing that we have in common is our interest in caravans so there are bound to be disagreements,I for one find the forum very interesting and informative and I also enjoy the banter but not the backbiting.

Lets use our common interest to have some fun, life's to short.

Is that a yes or no?

Once again Big Roy states the obvious. Absolutely NO disrespect meant Roy. I am just surprized you posted it as a comment not a "Reply".

How many times have I said that we should all have more in common than differences. Those that focus on the negative and out diferences, in my view we are well rid off.

In this case the RIP stuff is just plain daft!

Unless it stands for Really Irritating (whatever springs to mind)

Lets have an adult Forum that RESPECTS each individual contributor and values the expertise or experience each individual can bring.

I have to say that I log on less since it became real time response,it seems to have attracted troublemakers, not caravanners. Before you could have let young kids log on,not now.Not that many kids would find it interesting,I only use that as an example regarding the type of people / comments that the forum contained.Thankfully there are still a majority of true caravanners using the site and we are weeding out the "weeds"...

Good points John

Main trouble is the lack of sohistication within the Forum itself.

Compared to other Forums that lay down ground rules and stick to them this one is a joke. I KNOW the moderator does his/her best. But without the tools they may as well not bother.

If after all that has happened of late, the abusers can STILL circumvent the rules what on earth is the point of any of us making the effort to use the Forum.

Why not just migrate to a Forum that controls the content better?

It would seem it is happening already.

Trickle to a flood?

Yes I like the format but it needs more control from the moderator.
Clive if there is more control then you would not be able to insult anyone with the words "really irrating person" Do you want to be treated like a 15 yr old like the govt treats the uk population?

Good idea Clive, wonder why a better forum wasn't used in the first place, surely cost wasn't a matter was it?

So Clive in controlling the content, would you still be able post those type of jokes you have posted in the past?
It isn't so much the content that needs to be controlled, that will happen naturally, if for example you have an ignore facility and then that person doesn't get the response he or she was hoping for and the posts get deleted, that person will think twice before trying to inflame a post again, don't you think? It's not about freedom; it's about respecting others.

Here we go, one spell check coming up....

Damn, 5 wrong...
