Free Satellite Navigation , well kind of !

For any one who has a new up to date N series Nokia phone or are awaiting the arrival of the N95, Nokia are offering a free Sat Nav download of GPS mapping that covers far more many countries than many like Garmin and Tom Tom.

A Sirf 3 chip set bluetooth GPS reciever to pair with the phones can be had for about £40 these days and.

For any traveller that wants to find where they are or find a location of a camp site or hospital in a strange land this could be the thing you need without going to the full exopense of a stand alone Sat Nav.

Following the above post.

The following site has now gone live for downloads of maps to mobile phones and some PDA's etc - http://www.smart2go.com/en/index_html

You can use the mapping as a fully searchable map with Garage and other POI data etc even if you dont want to use it as a full blown GPS connected via Bluetooth.

Maps available for all over he world for free down load depending on size of phone memory card.

Even if you don't want a full Sat Na. If you have a suitable Smart phone you can down load fuul street mapping for anywhere you might want to vist or go on holiday to.

What are you prattling on about Steve?

This has nothing to do with what people do driving! If they were to choose to equip with a Bluetooth receiver there should be no difference to you using your I3

It's a FREE download of maps from the world over to some phones and PDA's if any one wants that. You dont't have to buy a GPS receiver to use the FREE maps.

If I were to visit "Leo" I have a free map on something I carry in my pocket, or if taking a weekend break in Amsterdam or wandering around on holiday in Bordeaux I or anyone else can have an instant POI equipped street map without the neeed to carry a GPS unit.

I hope that's OK ;-)

Great for reference & to plot a route, but as a sat nav unit forget them, been using one now for well over a year 10th one actually as they are so unreliable, drops blue tooth at the drop of a hat. Stay with the dedicated satellite navigation units, far better.
