There we have it again!!!

I am accused regularly on here by the Anti's of slagging off "normal" cars - when in fact I regularly say how much I like cars in general. Cliff even had the audacity to accuse me of this when in the very post above I said what an excellent car the Jaguar was!!!

And now we have Ricky again being rude about a particular type of car.

Isn't it about time that you anti's woke up to the fact that you are actually the worst offenders in doing what you so often accuse others of doing!

As for the extra

Whatever Seth. The Jag might be a good car but Ford are struggling with a lame duck and have been using easy available designs to cut cost and its still based on some Ford multi purpose pane and not some pedgree hanldling from what the badging suggests.

It might be a good tow car but slagging off a medium sized 4 X 4 that offers more room as good and bettter economy an takes up less road space as though a Jag is an Eco Warriors saviour Chariot is beyond belief !

How on earth can you say that "Ford are struggling with a lame duck" when 4x4 sales are dropping through the floor.

The general public are finally waking up to the downside of 4x4 ownership.

Wake up euro and smell the coffee, the writing is on the wall

Jaguar has been a lame duck for years and with Fords current problems it has been on the table to be sold off along with Aston Martin, even the Jaguar F1 expenditure and cebacle failed to lift its profile enough in the demograph Ford wanted. It still can't ditch its "old Man " or " ladies that lunch" image. Ford seem to be holding out a t present with Jag bwith AM likely to be sold on, despite concerns over LR Ford execs have said it will move production to the States or elswhere but selling is not on the cards as with JAG and AM.

You always want to pick a fight Ricky with your comments but your comments are so off the wall I guess you probably suit the Jaguar demographic that Ford wants to ditch.

Wishful thinking again Ricky - and don't you just wish!

But the facts are not as you make out.

Pre-release sales of the new Freelander are excellent - greater than expected - Also the old Freelander had virtually sold out by mid september which meant there are no old models hanging arround the dealerships.

LR sales are up again this year for the 5th year in a row and orders are still being taken - showing no decline in sales.

As far as I am aware other 4x4 manufacturers are showing the same healthy sales. As I have said before all vehicle sales were down 15% last month but the one sector to buck the trend was the 4x4's!! - So in fact their market share actually increased!

As for the Jaguar - sadly this vehicle is just not selling. I suspect the workers at Halewood are well pleased that the Jag production line is shared with the New Freelander 2.

I would say their jobs are more secure than if they were just building Jags.

Did you know Ricky that the new Freelander has a 12 year antiperferation warrenty?

So they are going to be arround for a good few years yet!

The tide is turning against 4x4 ownership Clive, you cannot get around it.

Ten years ago no one batted an eye when they saw a 4x4, today they sneer when they see one.

Why? because we now know the facts and they are seen as anti social.

4x4 sales are decreasing the figures are there for all to see

Try it for yourself, drive a normal car around for a few days and experience the difference in how you are perceived.

You never know you may even be flashed out of a side road

So now Ricky decides what a normal car is !? !?! !? The LIMO driver decides!

What a revelation, we get looks of admiration more than any other when driving in 4 x 4's Ricky not that I could really care.

Again this is just wishful thinking on the part of a commited anti.

Where we live there are more 4x4's than average (Rural area - farming - equestrian)

What a pity that so many people are worried about what others think if you want a new Freelander buy one, if you do not then buy something else but remember if you do buy one then you are helping to keep a british job and probally some fellow caravanners in work

Agreed Stephen - But not only the jobs point is worth noting - but the fact that by buying a UK built car (which applies not just to LR but some Nissans, Toyotas and Jag's etc. of course) you are not buying a car that has had to be transported halfway arround the planet!

Apart from the fact that the profit goes to Japan and not to the UK. Which is bad for all of us in GB Inc.

Why are some of you so anti Land Rover? - Is it because they are just so damn successful?

Despite all the odds having been stacked against them so many times in the past, they still kept coming up with world beaters?

And that is why certain people dislike them - it is the old "British Disease" - nobody or nothing can be too successful or else we will "have to take it down a peg or two".

Dinosaur thinking.

I thought Ford was an American company and all Fords plants around the world ultimately send their profits to the USA.

Just as Japanese companies send their profits to Japan.

Or am I mistaken?

Also you are again missing my point.

I will spell it out to you.

I am not saying that the new Freelander is a bad vehicle.

What I am saying is that LR/Ford are asking too much for it compared to its opposition.

Now if you can digest what I have just stated , I would be interested to here your comments regarding why its price should be

Cliff - Can I suggest you look into the corporate structure of the PAG and how it benefits the likes of Jaguar Volvo LR etc.

As for the price of the new Freelander - the TD4 S comes in at

Hi Cliff just went on the Honda web site, If you want all the extras that the HSE freelander has i think you'll find that the price of the Honda is much the same.

The reason i would'nt buy a Honda CRV is that i dont like the shape, its never caught my eye and made me think yes i'd really like one of those and i'am definetly not jealous of anyone that drives one, like i'am with an LR3 or an Aston Martin both ford how strange.

What is it you do not understand about the Freelander 2 range starting at about

Shows the TD4 GS against three others.

Comments from What Car are:-

"The Freelander is the perfect family friendly car thanks to its many talents"

"Reasonable running costs and strong resale values will keep you and the bank manager happy"

So these guys do not think it is anything other than a very good family car with good residual value!

As for costs - bear in mind that the TD4 GS is likely to be the most popular model (

Fat chance Lol - I havn't caught it yet! - the lassoo got tangled round a Ramblers neck and it was three miles later before I realised that the frantic banging on the Land Rover Roof was Swimbo saying we had an angry bobble hat in tow.

But by that time all the rabbits were in their burroughs and the deer in amongst the trees.

I sent SWIMBO in to flush them out but that was 3 hours ago so I thought I would come home for a cuppa and find that article for Frank. The 9 mile drive over Forest tracks really show the ability of the Discovery to ist best.

If she is not back by 11pm I will leave the light on.

Hope she gets back soon - I don't like to eat too late and she has not yet prepared the vegetables

You never do answer any direct question, you just ignore the ones that you have no answer to.

How do you know that the Freelander 2 is "streets ahead of everything else" when you are still awaiting a test drive.

Clairvoyance perhaps?

I have just been on the What Car website and compared the top of the range Honda CRV against a top of the range Freelander 2.

Apart from the autobox and multi cd player, and hands free phone the specs are remarkably similar, only the price is different.

The Honda CRV costs
