The What Car article I quoted (and at last cliff has read as he now admits that it is a good source of info and that bar the price he would consider the Freelander 2) is a comparative work including prices, NCAP data, equipment levels as well as detailed reviews of how they drive and what the reviewers felt about the car.
As such I see it as a responsible piece. It gives the reader a good overall view of what is available and not only compares the four main cars but goes onto suggest other vehicles that could suit the individual.
Thus this article does not preach - it does not get its knickers in a twist as you and cliff did because your personal views were challenged.
Now compare that to the "Guardianista" report a few days ago when they gleefully reported a slump in 4x4 sales! Which is total b*ll*cks because the data states that all car sales declined but the 4x4 market share actually increased!

Let me give you an example, last week I secured a highly lucrative contract and part of it involved ferrying some important clients around and general brown nosing (********)
Ferrying clients around in a noisy tow truck is not an option
Corporate entertainment is all part of the job and the Jaguar helps fulfil this criteria

It is not a case of letting go Ricky, you are the one that keeps popping at others 4 x 4 choices.
You keep popping at those making a 4 x 4 choice with extra gear ratios etc but are happy to drive your "dual purpose" anti social limo whilst others get a "multi purpose" vehicle that is far more comfortable to many than your Jag and capabable of carrying clients in as much spleandor and more comfort with room for their brief cases over night bags coats hats and anough Blacberries to communicate with half the world at once whilst using no more fuel and using less road space and tighter parking spaces with the ability to get them home in all weather or surface conditions and go places with a caravan that you would never dream of.
ps, I can't speak for Clive but the reason I'm retired still with a few years to go before I reach 60 is because we did a good job with straight talking and avoided "Brown Nosing" as you put it. So no! It's not something I'm experienced in.

I'm sure the Mod's can see as well as anyone else that Ricky snipes about the number of gear ratios etc and makes out that all 4 X 4 are tanks whilst driving quite a large car himself that is no eco saviour.
He comments on spending his cash on 10 speaker sound systems and Garage remote controls.
Do these systems fit well with noise pollution and the cost to the NHS of hearing damage and obesity as people sit in their cars rather than get out and physicly open the Garage door.

My daughter runs our business now but I guess I'm still the CEO. She has to meet GREEN requirements and has high profile clients and meets with high profile people.
