Front protection for van

Does anyone have experience of using a front cover to protect the van from stones and dirt whilst towing. What are they normally made from and how are they held in position. What proprietary ones are available. Any info welcome - thanks - John

Hi John,

Can't exaclty remember where I saw these "front covers" but I seem to remember that it was on one of the caravan cover suppliers sites.

I think that the material was the same as a caravan cover & that they used the awning channels either side of the caravan for their fixing.

Having spent many a happy? hour cleaning off the interesting insect collection, I have to admit these front covers do have a certain appeal!

I just use automotive clear protective film. You don't know it is there and prevents the windows getting scratched, remove when you sell and "like new" ummarked caravan front is under neath!

I find that as longg as I keep a good coating of wax on the front I dont have a problem cleaning it, never yet had a problem with scratching on the front wiondows from towing.

Hi John, we have used a front cover for 2 years now, we originally bought the cover for our Hymer nova, which had an alluminium front, we got a few stone dents on it.

I ordered it from PROTEC covers, its made from the same material as their caravan covers, i put a piece of 10mm foam on the inside of the cover with double sided sticky tape, its held in place with 5 straps (each side) which slide into the awning rail, really easy to fit, worth its weight in gold, no more stone chips and a clean van when arriving on site!

I think it cost about

Er....

Does this mean I should have a protective cover for the front of my vehicle whilst driving?

Get OUT of here!

Let's all suck up to the marketing men who insist that we can't live without their products....

Per-leeese!

Hi Mac, just thaught i would drop you a line to justify my reasons for investing in a front cover!!!

We bought a brand new Hymer Nova 570, we had had the van 2 weeks and got 3 stone dents on the front of the van, one particularly large one! as the Hymer has an aluminium front panel!

With the Hymer costing
