There is a fuel station on the exit road immediately on leaving tunnel heading towards the motorway, but charges motorway prices. If your heading towards Bolounge take exit 41 follow signs for Coquelles commerical centre where there is an Auchan supermarket fuel station much cheaper & caravan friendly. If your heading towards Paris on leaving tunnel take Dunkeque road & follow green signs to Car Ferry Terminal you will see commerical centre (wine & beer wharehouses) on your right side take slip road off & 24hr Elf station just after roundabout not as dear as motorway. Excuse spelling having an MP's forgetfull moment. John
There is NO parking specifically for caravans - or there wasn't last September. There is parking for coaches (but they have to reverse out as well) and lorry parking is very congested and separate. The car section is laid out such that it would be unusable to caravans or motorhomes.
Seems no-one who designed it had heard of caravans or motorhomes!
Normally fuel is cheaper in France than in the UK so why fill up on the UK side? I usually use the Carrefour supermarket, but that's just off the road from the docks, not the tunnel.
sorry for the confusion, Im looking for cheap fuel near the calais end of the tunnel, Im heading towards dunkirk, I was going to use norfolk line(Dunkirk) outward & tunnel coming home but I didnt read my tesco vouchers you can only use them outward!!.Any suggestions taken- must be accesible with the van and not to far from the route A16 North
Just be careful that you can get car and caravan through the 'chicane' to the pay booth in supermarket petrol stations. Many times we've found it very difficult indeed, and on one occasion absolutely impossible. We had to unhitch, move the traffic behind us, push the caravan back, pay, and then drive around to pick it back up!
We've now taken to marking suitable supermarket fuel stations as 'Caraven friendly' in our road atlas.
The petrol station immediately you leave the tunnel has good access and a wide forecourt and is used by many brits either solo or towing - accepts cards. It's such a pleasure to buy at continental prices rather than UK rip-off levels that I never mind if it isn't the cheapest available in France!
Talking of rip-off, why is UK fuel increasing when world prices are reducing?
