By posting in PC forum you are making your post open to public view and comment and you have no rights to control who comments or what they write, or when a thread is closed.
It is quite common for a forum thread to morph away from the OP's immediate need or intent this is colloquially known as Fred Drift. Unreasonable drift will be curtailed by the Moderators or Forum Management
What is allowed in comments is outlined in the (Forum Etiquette) The arbiters about posted comments are the forums moderators or the Forums Management team and they have a range of sanctions they can invoke if deemed necessary.
If there is a comment you feel oversteps the accepted norms of the forum, you can use the "Report" button in the bottom left hand corner of the post to raise your concerns with the moderators. The author of a reported comment has no automatic right to know if who may have reported an issue, unless the moderators decide to make it known.
Being the Opening Poster in a thread does not give any additional rights to edit or moderate subsequent comments.
