Gaffer tape residue

Hi, we have finally got our replacement window fitted. But we are left with the tape residue on the side of the van, which we used to fix the sheet of plastic while we had no window.
has anyone any idea what we can use to remove the sticky mess, without damaging the paint work?

WD40, White spirit, Turps - these remain in place whilst you trying to get the adhesive off. Others like meths, petrol, lighter fluid evaporate quickly, and can attack some surfaces

Used duck tape to fix number plate that fell off. Tried White spirit, meths, no go. Wife said you always say how good WD40 is. Tried that Bingo she was right.

Have just tried Sticky Stuff Remover to get the Duck tape remains off. Worked a treat using a piece off the broken window as a scraper. Also tried WD40 as someone suggested did not work.

That works in Transit vans as well . My Lad comes home with lots of different stuff from aircraft industry ,I find Isopropanol best for most things ,doesn't damage plastic , acetone for others stuff ,thinners and tar and glue remover from auto glym . Gaffer tape set with the sun is a ****** . oil works on somethings as well . Never thought of the butter trick . We mind a dog now so must try that in the future .

Thats the way I clean the BBQ grill, let it cool right down and then let the dogs at it. 15 minutes and its spotless.
