Don't forget that the coupling on the cylinder is different between Propane and Butane. 
Propane has a female on the cylinder and a male on the high pressure link pipe between the cylinder and the regulator, and you turn the Propane connector anticlockwise to attach it to the cylinder.
Butane has a male thread on the cylinder and a female on the link pipe that screws clockwise.
In modern caravans a common regulator is used that works with both Propane and Butane.
