Gas fire ignitor

Hi All. Has anyone ever removed the front of a truma gas fire as fitted to pegeant S5's. Went away in the Vendee last week and the gas fire would not light. The ignitor was not working (its the type where you press the control knob down and usualy get continuous clicking) Having read the user manual for the fire it says to replace the batteries located behind the front cover and to access the batteries pull off the front cover. Well I tried pulling, lifting and pulling and checked for screws but I could not get the cover off. I thought I would try replacing the batteries first as it would be the cheapest and easist option.

Hello Martyn.The way i do do it is grasp the top sides and pull forward. This "unclips" the two wire clips.As i had suffered vibration with mine its been off and on so many times .

you can usually reach the battery box without removing the heater front. the heater front is an arse to get back on.

the batteyr box usually has a small sliding door just bigger than an aa battery.

As said, vibration can be a problem; my heater has had a small screw fitted to stop front falling off! Hidden in the vent at top, needs flashlight to see it. Unscrew and then unclip as instructions.

There have been some comments about the ignition problems on other posts, so a quick search may give an answer if the battery is not at fault.

if it's the same as the ser. 6 there is a small 'door' at the very bottom right as low as you can go open this and flip out the battery
