Gas not flowing properly

We are having trouble with our gas supply and believe it’s due to the regulator. Swift caravan (2011) and truma regulator. We’re away now and not near caravan supply place. Hubby is quite handy, wondering if he could install it himself. Another option is a service place in France but would they have the correct parts?

The regulator is a universal item, just about any caravan or motorhome accessory shop will sell them.
Simple enough to fit, just be sure there are no leaks ! (Soapy water foam works well)!

Maybe an idea to change the connecting gas hose at the same time if it has not been changed recently?

If using diluted washing up liquid make sure you was it off afterwards as it has salt in it that is corrosive

Sometimes it can be the non return valve in the pigtail that causes the issue!!

If using diluted washing up liquid make sure you was it off afterwards as it has salt in it that is corrosive

Or even better, just use proper gas detection spray.

I use a gas sniffer but I would use gas detection spray to, but just saying that if washing up liquid is used……..

The OP had told us they were away, by inference in France and not near a caravan place, so I doubt seeking a "proper gas detection spray" is going to be that easy, and just hype up their immediate challenges. Plus, in this context, just using soapy water will be quite effective enough IMO, one less problem.

Which was the exact reason I suggested soapy water, not ideal, but a pretty good second best under the circumstances.

My comment wasn't specifically targeted at the precise situation outlined in the original post.

It was more a general comment aimed at those who need to seek out a gas leak in the caravan or at home.

Unfortunately I failed to fully detail this in my response, and subsequently when I realised this I decided to leave the post as it was because I knew someone would not hesitate to point the apparent shortcomings in my post.

You don't need specialist caravan dealers in France. Large supermarkets like Auchan and large hardware stores such as Leroy Merlin or Brico Depot are often well stocked with the sort of thing you may need - and often cheaper than the UK!

Although I have never tried to locate the specific items referred to in this thread I do have to agree, particularly ref. the big supermarkets., when we first started to visit France I was surprised at the range of DIY and hardware stuff some of the big supermarkets carry.

If you are on site for a few days and speak to the owner you could presumably get Amazon France to deliver for you - a quick look showed Amazon France with English translation.
