can any one tellme what the 2003 2l 16v 5 door grand vitara tows like has we are y a wanting to buy a caravan and want to knowwhat they are like to tow

hi lorraine i had the grand vitara xl-7 pulled no problem towing limit is 1800 kg

I tow with a 2006 2Lit Petrol Grand Vitara Auto which has 138bhp.

The van is only 1100kg's and it pulls it with ease only changing up a cog on long hills.

The only downside is they are rather thirsty.

Hi Lorraine, we have 54 plate 2.0 Grand Vitara 5 door which we use to tow a 2003 Bailey Auvergne 1400kg (100%) great car averages 22-25mpg when towing but can agree it needs chasing on at steep/long hills.Might consider new model vitara diesel next time but i am a bit wary a it is a renault engine.

I have 03 Vitara 2.0TD, 3 door and tow a Bailey Pagent Normandie which has a weight of 1285kgs. No problems towing and remain in 5th gear when on duel carriageways or motorways. Can go up most hills in 4th gear & fuel consumption is quite good.
