Going to Grantown on spey caravan club site this weekend to test out our caravan for the first time. Anyone been there before??? If anyone is going to be there and sees us effing and blinding trying to put up an awning (with no instructions) please feel free to come over and offer assistance!! We're the ones with the Swift Azzura/honda crv, two bored kids, a mad Border Terrier and puzzled expressions, Gavin + Amanda.

If youve an interest in wildlife head down the B970 a way to Loch Garten.

Theres a RSPB area there overlooking a famous Osprey breeding nest. Its set up with banoculars to help see if parents and young if they havnt yet flown the nest

Hi, we have been there many times over the last few years, and can say it is an excellent site. we have 2 kids and they really like the Landmark centre with its tree top trail and various other interesting and fun things for the kids and grownups to do. There are plenty of excellent walks round about, even from the site, and Grantown itself is nice with varied shops to suit most. If you like whisky then there are many malts to choose from, and many of the distilleries are open to the public. Fortunately we live a couple of hours away so often make it for a weekend, but not this one I'm afraid, as we are just back from the Dales. Have agreat break!

Hi Gavin

Banchory went fine. It's a toss up this weekend between Granton,Huntly or Braemar. Nice to have a good choice on the door step

Hi Roger and Frank, the weekend in Grantown went well, all the bits and pieces in the caravan seem to work. Didn't try the awning yet though, i'll leave that for another time. The site itself was spotlees, especially the shower block at the bottom of the site. The pitches were very roomy, though the pitces at the top of the hill were on a wee bit of a slope. Speaking to some of the other folk there, they said it was on the expensive side, but i'd rather pay a few quid extra and have a spotless site. Next trip away is in October, 3 nights in Glasgow/Loch Lomond and 4 nights in Flamingoland, all the best for now, Gavin.
