Grease on Alko Tow Hitch

We had to be pulled off a particularly muddy field this weekend by the friendly CL owner and his tractor. The result is that I have some contamination on my Alko tow hitch. What can I do about this, please as it made a terrible noise when I started to tow. I stopped immediately as I had some idea what it was and cleaned it but the noise continues. Can I clean the nylon brushes? What with?

Try spraying it a few times with Halfords brake cleaner and if there is a next time, put a polythene bag over the tractor ball but don't lock the stabiliser handle down.
