Great ideas in the last ten years

After a gap of ten years or so we are back on the road with a new caravan. Here is a brief note, in my opinion of what has changed for the better;

Trucks and coaches being speed limited.

Alko stabilisers.

Totally sealed shower cubicles.

Heki rooflights.

Powerful turbo diesel engines.

Cruise control.

Alloy wheels on caravans.

Much more appealing caravan interiors.

Cleaner site facilities.

Outfits on the motorway seeming not as wobbly as I remember.

Any others you can think of?

I drive with alloys on my car but I have no idea what the technical advantage is, they feel just like steel wheels to me. What do they do different than steel wheels?

Michael - other improvements have been 3-5 year water ingress guarantees, better build quality, Satellite Navigation, better Customer Service from Dealers (in the main), a better PC magazine & this forum!

Great advances:

1)No more chintz interiors

2)Chassis caravan movers, never thought I wanted one, but consider it essential now.

3) Removable carpets

Make you feel warm inside. I'm surprised you had to ask!
I cannot comment on whether this story is true or not but this is what I was told when the Vauxhall Omega first came out in 1994.

The GLS model was fitted with steel wheels and almost solid plastic wheel trims as standard. By default it came to light that the brakes worked more efficiently when the car was fitted with 5 spoke alloys. Therefore I believe that from late '95 onwards all models in the range came fitted with alloys as standard.

They're also supposed to be lighter in weight...........

Now whether all this is true is for you to speculate. I'm only repeating what I was told many moons ago.

Vic
