If you have and you wonder where they go, perhaps this is one possibility. 30 caravans were identified and had been reported stolen in UK.

How many of the others could not be identified ???

Why don't we see any reporting in UK news media?

LANCASHIRE constabulary's Serious and Organised Crime Unit, working with the Guardia Civil, have uncovered more than 30 caravans stolen in the UK on Benidorm campsites.

British authorities were aware there were stolen caravans being sold to unsuspecting Britons, but the full scale of the organised crime operation was not uncovered until this week.

Undercover police and a UK insurance investigator raided a number of campsites and their findings have been astonishing to say the least.

Between Tuesday and yesterday (Thursday), after checking the registration numbers of 120 caravans, they found that 30 of them had been reported as stolen in the UK.

Kenneth, simply because caravan theft is not newsworthy.

Strange that,

Caravans not news worthy? read on....

As soon as a caravan is involved in a motorway incident all the BBC news report seem to make great play on the fact it is a caravan by mentioning it.

When most reports simply are 'delays caused by a and incident' yet caravans are singled out and frequently identified giving the impression they are more significant than an artic or coach etc.

Am I paranoid?

John, if you read what I posted you would see what I actually said was "caravan theft is not newsworthy."

I did not say Caravans are not newsworthy, as they are, when they are involved in a road accident or delay situation.

Well Damian, this one does look to be worthy of coverage.

You may be right though, perhaps people are not interested, as long as insurance companies pay out.

Must be tough for the ones who are not insured or are refused a claim.

I still believe a lot more than the 30 caravans would have been stolen.

Of the remaining 90 caravans many could have had identification removed, so police would not be able to trace them.

These days people seem to know how to use the system. 'They were seen taking the caravan by two witnesses, followed until they were stopped by police and yet someone has decided to give them a caution, it's difficult to understand.'

Hi all here's one for you,

I store my van on a cassoa gold site in the midlands, it used to be an army base and the area where the caravans are stored was used as an ammo dump, it is surrounded by earthworks 8 feet high with a barbed wire fence around the top with an alarm running through it, entry is via a key fob passed over a sensor, it also has cctv.

One night a squad of thieves arrived with a JCB digger disabled the alarm, dug through the earthworks and stole four caravans worth

What's so surprising about that? Everyone knows that "They who must not be mentioned on this forum" are above the law. They cause so much hassle for the police trying to get them to court that any excuse not to prosecute is used.
