we started towing 2 years ago with a saab 900 lovely but it cost a fortune in petrol so bought a pug as some of you might remember the tubo failed whilt towing got it fixed lovely now since june weve had a cam belt and new breaks done and 2 fan belts have snapped and weve had the pullys replaced in december, guess what the flippin fan belts gone again could i be any more unlucky

so we recon the garage is conning us but if they wont replace it for free and admit they are wrong we are seriously thinking of getting rid of it im all for replacing parts i know thats life but the same part 3 times in a year is unbelievable

so anyway if we change car what do we get it has to be able to tow the same as the pug 1500

oh about 3 grand we would be spending

any ideas

Looks like you don't mind 4x4 then? - Terranos are ok, the SWB is a bit cramped and might be a bit "pitchy" for a tow tug. You can get find import versions but in that class of motor I would be looking at the Toyota Surf.

Lots of Surf and Terranno feedback in this forum, hit search.

My tug is a 94 Bighorn 3.1 TD lotus. Paid

Yes the pump did fail but since being fixed it's running better than ever. I would recommend a Mav / Terrano anytime although I'd go for the LWB as it handles better.
