Hilux or Isuzu

Hi,

Does anyone tow with either a diesel Rodeo 3.0 or 2.5, or a Hilux 3.0.

I would be grateful for any feedback on these pickups and towing capabilities.

Hi Rosie,we tow with a Isuzu double cab pickup 03,the last of the TF models,2.5 turbo diesel.100% reliable,easy to service,pulls our ta comfortably,but does have to work hard on hills,returns 40mpg solo.It earns it's keep as I use it for work,weekends with dog/mountain bikes on back,no more expensive than your average car to tax.The Toyota has a good name as well,I think it's just a case of deciding mpg/tax against pulling power of 3.0 models of either truck.Hope this helps,stuart1

Hi Rosie,

Until september I towed with a 56 plate Rodeo 3.0 diesel double cab. I only used it for 1 year from new and it took alot of running in, but once it got to 10K miles it proved to be quite economical considering the size of it! (better than the previous sorento's)

It towed exceptionally well, but it would help if you can get the Isuzu pro drive power up kit if you have a very heavy van. I now tow with a new Nissan Navara, but the Isuzu was a much more 'solid' tow vehicle. I tested the Toyota and Nissan when I sold the Isuzu, but prefered the Nissan, althouth I still think the Isuzu takes some beating for value.
