Honda FRV

I like the Honda FRV diesel and wondered what it would be like as a tow car (caravan loaded is approx 1430kg) - any comments? Many thanks

Soory can't help with FRV but do have CR-V with same 2.2 engine and tow Europe 460 with extras.

Can tow in 6th gear on flat m-ways and average 29 mpg (not the computer read out as very inaccurate). The FR-V is about 100kg lighter then the CR-V

Hello David

Can you tell me if you have had to allow an 'engine run-in' prior to towing? I understand that some tow vehicles are very sluggish (and occasionally unusable) until 800-1000 miles have been covered. Any information would be helpful on this point as we are considering the Honda C-RV 2.2i-CTDi ES as our next vehicle.

Sorry to hi-jack FR-V topic but here goes.

On another thread someone mentioned CR-V towing problems. Can anyone shed any light what this means? Would particularly welcome your comments on the CR-V as a towcar David.

Seriously considering the CR-V as our next towcar due to low emissions therefore cheaper road tax. The

Honda CR-V ctdi(sorry again to FR-V owner) Bought the CR-V a year ago but only started towing this year so the engine was well run in.They recommend 600 miles before towing. This car tows our Europa 460 (1300kgs) with ease. We like: the driving position, the space in the boot for the 2 dogs - much larger than some similar vehicles, the top opening tailgate, the rear seat space for the elderly folk. Reasonable C02/RFL Average fuel consumption solo in town (no aircon) 45 (aircon on 42) solo motorways 70ish mph 38.Towing 28 to 30 However the computer is grossly inaccurate so figures are based on fill ups and averaged. We DONT like the quality of the interior plastic which mark so easily and already look poor and scratched after a year, the exterior paint is not as tuff as the VW's I previiously had but the reliability far exceeds the Passat.

Would we buy again? Yes although we fancy a larger van even for just the 2 of us so that will influence any decision

Thanks for your very comprehensive and informative reply, David. The CR-V is defininately high on our list when we can change the car towards the end of the year.

Thank you, David. Obviously, we will have to take the Honda on-board over the winter period (to put on the mileage). Still a contender!
