Getting a new cooker for the house next week. Is it easy to wire in? Do i just flick the switch on the consumer unit to kill the power? or should i leave it for a sparkie?
Better to pay than have been electrocuted. The going rate to connect is £80-£90.
Our previous house’s gas cooker just plugged in to a 13 amp three pin socket behind it and its main isolator was on the wall to the side of the cooker. Cable between socket and isolator was buried into the wall. But in this house the gas cooker is fully wired back to an isolator in one of the kitchen high level units and if at some stage a electric cooker should be installed the wiring meets the regulations for a change to electric.Totally agree with the comments about getting in the professionals.
However my daughter bought a very basic oven only ( no hob) which just fitted in the space the old one occupied( built in) and plugged in.
Suppose it depends on what border bill means by “cooker”

I had a similar experience, new electric hob came with a 3 pin plug, so very easy to fit, except the old one was hard wired to a power supply, so I had to decide which way to go.Totally agree with the comments about getting in the professionals.
