They are probably similar, but I have never used the Weber ones.. With the heat beads, they seem to give off more heat, last longer. When we have finished cooking we remove the grill and close up the weber. This obviously stops them burning and we can reuse them with fresh ones for the next BBQ. They don't crumble like the normal briquette.
Thanks they do sound very similar, and just like you I close the bbq down after cooking and then there is some briquettes left for next time.

I am going to try for the first time some briquettes made from Coconut shells, supposed to burn hotter and longer.
Anyone tried these.

Heaps of firewood! We have a bit of ground, our own campsite in the DNP, where I cook over the fire all the time. I did not count that! We have a gas Outback at home, we use that more than the kitchen if it ain’t “persistently” raining. I cut, ring and hand split all my wood. 👍

That’s similar to my son’s approach. He has an area of mixed woodland in the Lynfi Valley which supplies him with wood for the stove. He’s got a barn and storage shelters to season his wood. Then if there are any tree fallings in the adjacent woods the owner allows the villagers to use them, and they are like Hobbits when it comes to collecting the wood.

Won't the milk get burned? 🤣 Has anyone cooked bananas on a BBQ? Once cooked, mash the banana and add to a bacon sarmy. Very tasty.

Not quite on topic, but definitely related, I came across this YouTube video, where a couple of lads topped up 2011 1.6L diesel Passat in Morocco, and drove all the way to Heathrow on 77L2 of fuel (just one tank full) that was 1484 odd (sorry I mean even) miles which averaged 87.6 mpg.

It was pretty awful on M6 last Friday as we drove south from the Lakes. M42 and M5 not a lot better either.

M6 on Fridays is definitely a road to avoid. I have seen northbound stopped traffic for several or more miles and this was back in the mid nineties. At the time I had a part time job delivering new Vauxhalls all around the country.

It must have all been going northbound - we used the M42, M6 and A14 on Friday going to Suffolk for a short break without the caravan - I've never know the traffic so light - maybe it was all jammed up near Manchester?

Sorry but I don’t understand. If the traffic was all going northbound I wouldn’t have encountered so many delays that turned a normal 5 hr southbound journey into an 8 hr journey.

Then I misunderstood your post - I can only assume that congestion and delays from the Lakes down to the M42 was restricting the flow of traffic as the M6 east of the M42 had very light traffic on Friday.

I think we are talking different Fridays. I travelled 20 June. I only detoured on to the Toll because of reported long delays where you leave the M6 for the M5 southbound.

Sounds likely - I travelled 27th June! But as you probably discovered, the M42 has massive construction works going on too.
