following the cc tcoy last, i went to order a new hyundai i30 only to be told there is a new engine, the U2 1.6.diesel same power as the old but slightly more torque.Now the bad news, now has a 6 speed The old car along with the kia ceed, had according to th cc great gear ratios, well sorted for towing. Has anyone got one of the new spec engines ?. I am sure the new i30 is a good bit of kit but no good to me if it wont give me the towing perfomance. I have been spoilt by a golf 130bhp, but it is time to change. BTW i tow a bailey disco max wt 1200kg

the new engine is new euro speck should be better six gear is like overdrive because of low gearing better for pulling

I agree logic says add a 6th gear/overdrive and move all the other gears down a tad, but the manufacturers aim seems to be improve mpg and reduce emmissions so dropping the gears does not fit that bill

they done same wiyh tucson before o6 was 5 speed after was new euro 5 speck 6speed more mpg more smoother more power had both
