Obviously Kanga, you have never used CLs or CS's which are in a lot of cases no more than a field.

Try getting off when you are at the bottom of a sloping field when it's been raining for a day or two - no chance in a front wheel drive family saloon.

But then I suppose you're a fair weather, municiple site frequenter....the lily livered type in my opinion.
Wendy,

Thankyou for your reply, may i point out that Clive himself said that a Subaru saloon makes a good tug and lets be honest a bit of wet field isn't going to stop a subaru saloon Unless that is you call driving across a wet field extreme conditions? So buy a subaru and enjoy a sublime driving experience instead of rolling about in 4x4.

To answer your question about cl's your right I don't use them as I don't like to mix with the sort of people who cannot afford to pay for a super pitch

It is becoming clearer by the minute! Kanga and Clive are often sparring with each other @ the same time. Kanga me old mate I do beleive that you are at last telling the truth about your alter-ego. This is a brilliant scam....Kanga is Clive...Clive is Kanga.....am I right?
Is that a high pitched girlish giggle I hear hear hear hear hear hear?

Clive,

You might need a 4x4 if you live in the back of beyond with all the sheep (I bet you keep a fanbelt in your pocket!) but most others don't need a 4x4 gas guzzling monster, they just think they cool in their bmw x5's when really they just look like they really are, complete bunch of tossers, eating into the planets precious resources, flattening dead small children as they run them over because they are invariably driving like Aryton Senna around Monza.
Driving like Ayrton Senna around Monza, I would like to think I could do a bit better than he did last time out!!!!!!!!

Kanga my dear, a little Suburu is not going to pull a 1600kg caravan off a muddy field.

Hi Duncan

We bought a new Freelander in 2001 - really pleased with it. But will be changing it when it is 5 years old next year.

Had planned on looking at the TD4 but with new model just around the corner - we are not sure.

Read good things about the Santa Fe - I would be interested in your comparrisons

Hi dave

At the risk of offending those of a truly sensitive disposition I would say that you will have a better time of it with your Santa Fe as like nearly all 4x4's it is built to be stronger in many aspects. Therefore towing is far less strain for them and far less of a compromise.

Enjoy!!!

Top 10 reasons not to drive an urban 4x4

1. You're not a farmer

Or a tree surgeon, country vet, wind turbine repairer, dry stone wall engineer or mountain rescue specialist. Unless you are (or in a handful of other occupations) there's really no need for you to get a big 4x4, particularly if you live in an urban area. Four wheel drive gives you better traction in snow or deep mud, and that's about it. It does not make your car safer, more manoeuvrable, or enable you to stop any quicker.

2. Your family fits into a saloon car or people carrier

Most families and their luggage can in fact fit comfortably into a small hatchback. Even if you have lots of kids (and a big dog), an estate car or MPV often has more space than a 4x4 and can fulfil all your daily needs. What did your dad drive you around in when you were small?

3. You will breathe cleaner air

Pollution studies have demonstrated that, in slow traffic, the dirtiest air isn't being breathed by the cyclists in the gutter or the people waiting for the bus on the pavement, but by those inside the cars in the middle of the road. If you find this implausible, check where your car's air intake is, and compare it with the exhaust pipe of the 4x4 in front of you.

4. You will save money

Data at www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk show that it costs around

HI CLIVE would not touch another freelander in 19months 9000 miles had a new clutch had to quickly get rid of it when the turbo was on its way out BMW engines for you heard a story about a brand new freelander in the 3 years of ownership the owner added all the warranty work up it came to

I am new to this concept of, log on to the FORUM and ask for advice from like minded people. Phil asked a simple question. What does our community of caravanners, think of his potential choice of a tow car. Apart from the relevant and specific answers, the rest was irrelevant. My question is, is there really a moderator who can, to put it bluntly, "Cut the Crap"

There are other sites that are heavily moderated Bill, this one is not, and as it gives you a choice, all the better for it. Ask Lord B, he and others managed to get themselves thrown off one of these moderated sites just for a mere mention of this forum. This has to be one of the best sites around, you just have to sort through it until you find something you like. Let me remind you though, the way you just posted, do you think that would be allowed in the politically correct sites? I for one would have found it difficult to not moderate you.

Well said Lol,

Bill, Lord B and I where today thrown of a heavily modorated forum for mentioning this forum, the modorator closed our accounts without any explanation.

I e mailed the said modorator to ask why and have heard nothing.

On this forum the modorator will email you if he thinks one of your posts have crossed the line and will warn you if you are getting close to being banned.

So having experienced the wrath of an other forums mod I think the mod on this forum shows a flexibility which a forum needs not the Hitler attitude on other forums.

There I am, saying the mods are more flexible on this site, and better for it, and what does the mod do? Moderates me! You couldn't do the spell checking as well while your at it, could you Moddy?

Phillip, Hyundai and it's sister company Kia make some very good cars and some bad ones. Most most complaints aren't about reliability or dealer problems more about handling and interior finish.

Whether you choose to buy a 4x4 is a matter choice and personal preference which our fathers and grandfathers fought for. But we must face face facts the 4x4 isn't exactly as socially responsible (trying to be polite here) and public opinion is growing against them, in the future you'll pay more of a price for such "luxury"
Hi, what's social responsibility got to do with it. My Sorento is far more economical than my diving Rib which can get through a gallon of petrol evry 10 minutes when at full power. But what an exhilarating ride!

This is for Big Roy and LOL only.

Friends, my posting was seriously MODERATED, and I had had second thoughts myself about the phrase I had actually used, but let me assure you I had not used foul language, I still feel the comment was entirely appropriate and amusing. I will let you be the judge of that.

If you want to see/hear the phrase, e-mail me at my work bill.king@openwork.uk.com
