It’s not just you it’s a trend. Amongst the first that I noticed were Passat where the rear lights were a round cluster and when in bright sunlight or if braking lights came on the indicator got less visible. Since the other makes have got even worse. Form over functionIt seems that on many newer cars, the indicator light is getting smaller and at times difficult to see especially if the sun is on the rear of the car. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this trend?
Yes, one particular car (could be a Vauxhall) has the rear indicator so close to the (very bright) brake light that you can hardly see it if the car is braking and indicating at the same time.It seems that on many newer cars, the indicator light is getting smaller and at times difficult to see especially if the sun is on the rear of the car. I think they are optional extras on BMW and Audi'sAnd then there's those who don't bother using them,
No, I have one and they're standard. However, they're for ornamental use only!!!!I think they are optional extras on BMW and Audi's
Even if the indicators sensed brain activity there would be many instances when they do not work to inform other drivers. And then there's those who don't bother using them,
I remember them on the Morris Minors that our grand father used to drive and also the Jeep Station Wagon(estate)When driving behind a nice old car, I always look out for the old indicator arm. Flipping out to indicate a turn might be coming up soon.
I remember them well and without much love, having to bang the inside body, either your side or your passengers to get them to go out; some things have improved. When driving behind a nice old car, I always look out for the old indicator arm. Flipping out to indicate a turn might be coming up soon.
I was also required to do hand signals on my test. Not nice as it was during a heavy hail storm.I recall Mel writing some time ago that many drivers don't top up their indicator fluid.
I'm pretty sure that about the time I took my test, and the guy with the red flag walking in front had become redundant, I still had to use hand signals..... not gestures that is👈👉👎👍
Hand signal, inside, the car to indicate left to a Policeman, or the rotating arm outside to indicate left.I recall Mel writing some time ago that many drivers don't top up their indicator fluid.

In my youth we had no idea what it meant to freeze anything. LOL! 🤣Trafficators I think was the name used for the amber light that flicked out, what's next, paraffin sump heater and paraffin lamps on the radiator to stop it freezing 😄
Then you must have missed the UK's massive freeze of early 1947 we certainly knew about freezing things then, no mains water, for up to months in some rural areas. In my youth we had no idea what it meant to freeze anything. LOL! 🤣
To us it was cold when the temperature dropped down to 11C in the winter however we had a coal fire to keep warm at nights. Then you must have missed the UK's massive freeze of early 1947 we certainly knew about freezing things then, no mains water, for up to months in some rural areas.
Then, most winters we also woke up with frozen bedroom windows.
My mate in Anchorage, Alaska, leaves one SUV pick up running overnight when he is out hunting for 2 weeks at a time.Trafficators I think was the name used for the amber light that flicked out, what's next, paraffin sump heater and paraffin lamps on the radiator to stop it freezing 😄
