INSIGNIA

Hi all. I am considering a larger van..max weight about 1450kg.Has. anyone towed with an insignia diesel estate 160bhp.
.Seems ok on paper, but any views appreciated.I am trying to avoid a 4x4 with the associated higher runnung costs
thanks tony

Hi
I currently tow a 1500kg twin axle with a 2l diesel Mondeo with no issues. So the Mondeo is an excellent alternative if the inignia isn't right

I find Vauxhall cars have uncomfortable seats almost like sitting on a church pew for hours on end. otherwsie they are generally quite capable. I tow with a Mondeo 2.0L 140bhp auto diesel and consumption is very good.

Many thanks your replies 'mondeo men'
I was shying away from the mondeo due to the lower kerb weight. The diesl estate has a kerb weight of 1577kg if you believe the ford brochure, this would give you 95% towing 1500kg. Well within ford spec, but i would feel happier nearer the 85%.
I have been looking at vans about 1470kg gross, so the answer maybe to look at lighter vans so that my car options are greater
Thanks again , tony
