Hi all,

I have just renewed my caravan insurance, I have been insured with the c&cc for the last 5 years and never claimed, the caravan is a Fleetwood Heritage 640es [2007]stored at home and fitted with two Alko Secure wheel locks, a factory alarm and the Theifbeaters identification markings [all standard factory equipment] and also an Alko hitchlock, fitted because I kept it from the last caravan. Despite all this my renewal was over £669 which I thought was steep so I rang around finally insuring the unit with Towergate Bakers for £415. Tourer Select quoted £438. Has anyone used Towergate Bakers before? if so what are they like and how much are people paying for new for old cover on newish twin axles?

Try a quote from Caravan Guard. They give 10% discount if you're a member of the CC or C&CC, even if you're a member of a regional club or owners club, a member of a Website Forum or a subscriber to a caravanning magazine.

Any caravanner over 30 yrs of age also qualifies for 10% discount, with a further discount given for security devices. The quote depends on each individual circumstace.

We are insured with them, but have never had to make a claim. If it's any help, the phone number is (08450) 717182 or their website is www.caravanguard.co.uk

Hi,

Towergate Bakers - or just Bakers as it was - have been used by owners of Hymer / Eriba caravans for the past twenty years or so. The original importers in Lechlade has been carrying their brochures for at least that length of time.

Good solid reputation, but this year we ended up with the Caravan Club - they were just that bit cheaper - so we'll see how the rates match up.
