Internal water pump replacement

Hi folks,

Being a newish owner of a 2016 Bailey Caravan we are finding bits and pieces that need renewing and upgrading. This is all new to me and I am learning as I go.

This weeks renewal is the seized internal water pump which has been blowing fuses if selecting ‘Int’ on the control panel.

I believe this to be a Whale 1652 submersible high flow pump,
I have removed quite easily but the connectors are my issue from caravan to pump, Can I just replace this with an inline connector? Is it a certain voltage. Any advice on where to purchase these blocks or what to replace them with

regards

Hello Sit back_andrelax. Welcome to the forum.

The submersible pump is a standard design and used 12Vdc to operate. You can replace it with the same again, or almost any 12V make of of 12V sub pump sold for caravan usage.

Being 12V the polarity of the wiring is important, so if you replace the proprietary connector with anything else just make sure the same wiring is followed. However as an alternative suggestion cut some of the wire and connector on the old pump and reconnect it to the replacement pump, so you retain full compatibility with the installed wiring.

Are you sure the current pump is entirely useless? If you unclip the blue filter dome you can reach in with a small bladed screwdriver and see if you can turn the impeller to free it up. The replacement Whale is about £45 but there are much cheaper generic brands available
