inverrary, lochgilphead, area, advice please

hello, going to this area but not sure which, if any parks are ok, looked at cc carradale bay but thats a bit too far down, i want to visit inverrary and will be going down to clachan, but didnt want to go as far as carradale with van on back, any advice of sites in this area would be most appreciated, thankyou. also we have 2 dogs so dog friendly site needed.

Hi Ed,

Have a look at this:-

www.lochgilpheadcaravanpark.co.uk

The site is in Lochgilphead itself so is easy to walk to the shops.

There is another site south of Inverary,

www.argyllcaravanpark.com

We went to have a look at this one,but it is huge and mostly residential vans with very little access to the lochside.

The touring area is the very last section which you come to with not much of a view so it didn't really appeal to us.

Personally I would choose Lochgilphead.

thankyou maureen ive just emailed them.

hello maureen

been in touch with them and it looks like we are going in a couple of weeks, i have a question though, we will be coming from west yorks, im ok up to tarbet at loch lomond, but from there do i take a left, have you done this route, or anyone who is looking at this thread can give me details of best route, to lochgilphead. when we go up to fort william we go the other way as to avoid loch lomond. thankyou to anyone who helps out.

Ed,

Once you reach Tarbet you then turn left on to the A83,Arrochar / Inverary / Lochgilphead.

It is a wonderful route for scenery as you will discover.

Enjoy your holiday and don't let the midges get you.

thankyou maureen,

we did oban, and inverary 5 years ago, but left the van in loch lomond, and i wasnt sure if it was left at tarbet. as for the midges, we better get used to them, as we are hoping to move up to the area when we eventually sell our house. thankyou again, cant wait to go
