For a start Seth I'd check the ferry prices, because unless your able to get a CC or C&cc deal Im afraid there's a monoply in place as all the ferry comanies are either directly owned or are share contolled by P&O.

I looked at taking our van last year and a standard fare was not far short of

Ps. The fares quoted are open ended return. Nad Steve is right, the roads do leave something to be desired, but you just travel slower!

Seth,

we went over a few years ago and got a special deal with "Merchant ferries" they sail out of Liverpool and are better known as freight/truck carriers, but if memory serves me right the special offer fare was about 99 pounds, this was in June, and maybe no good for you but its worth a call.

sorry I haven`t got the number.

Tony A.

Please don't forget Northern Ireland. If you like Wales you'll love it. I can recommend County Down where the Mourne Mountains sweep down to the sea - there's even a song about it!

Beautiful country, incredibly friendly people.

Have been looking at pix of south-west Ireland, which does look stunning. I have a brother that goes every year, and wouldn`t go anywhere else.

Trouble is, we went about 5 years ago and hated it more than any holiday I`ve had in the last 25 years.

I found it expensive (eating out particularly so, and some of the food was rubbish), boring(certainly not as nice as Scotland or the Lakes), and found the natives unpleasant. The teens particularly aggressive towards my daughter and her friend.

To be fair the site was O.K, until the Dubliners arrived on Friday night. Footballs being kicked against caravans at 11 o`clock at night (not by kids either), and people happy to unzip their awnings or tents to throw rubbish out onto the grass.

Despite the pretty pictures I doubt I`ll go back.

I will stick to Wales, or Cornwall, or Scotland, or France, or...........

Can highly recommend Tullymore Forest Park in the Mourne mountains, good touring site and beautiful river walks.
