Isuzu trooper 3.0 litre citation auto

Hello,

Am buying the trooper at the weekend, i am an experienced caravaner, will i need to fit the dixon bate shocklink to my towing hitch.

I have been reading about 4x4`s having commercial chassis.

My caravan is a 1999 swift challenger 520 se.

Thanks.

Simon.

I had a Monterey which is the same as the Trooper in all but name and did not find need for any special provisions. I towed like that for 7 years without any problems.

Like Lutz I have also towed with the same truck - mine a Bighorn 3.1 Auto. Superb tow car and no need for a shock link.

On a different tack - are you aware of the various problems with the 3.0 engine? For a complete picture and the latest info go to the ITOCUK website.

hi, we had a 3.1td monterey fantastic. but i was always told to stay away from the 3.0 engine, trouble especially with the injectors. we met a guy last year on the godrevy cc site and he had the 3.0 and he had to have all new injectors etc and it cost him over 2,000 he hadnt had the car long. i would read a review on that car before you buy it as you might be spending another 2,000 before you know it.

Hi Simon,

I use a Shocklink on my Landcruiser, but only because I already had one, and I tow a twin axle. Unless you also already own one, in which case I would fit it, try towing and see how the vehicle reacts. Then decide if you want to buy one - they're not cheap.
