Jaguar 2.7D

I have unfortunately had my Kia sorrento written off and am looking for a new towcar. I own a twin axle Bailey and like the look of the Jaguar 2.7D does anyone have any experience or knowledge as to whether it would make a good towcar.

My father tows a Bailey Senator Virginia with a 2.7 TD Jaguar XF. He is more than happy with its performance and stability.

The 2.7 twin turbo diesel engine could be had in the S-type, Aluminium XJ & the new XF. Cracking engine won many awards but its about to be replaced by a new 3.0 diesel which is more powerful & also more economical.

I've driven the 2.7 XF d & the only way of knowing it was diesel was by looking at the red line on the rev counter. It was very very refined.

The 2.7D XJ gets agood write up in this months C&CC magazine. Howver whilst it hasa healthy tow weight at 85% it was down to around 1450kg, such are the benefits of a high aluminium content body. It does have excellent mpg as in the last series of Top Gear JC drove one from Europe to Blackpool and was amazed at its mpg. Even the C&CC mag gave ita good score on this account.

Hi Guys

thanks for all your comments and if i was buying as a solo car I would be buying but do not think it feasable for my towing van

once again thanks for you comments
