oops!! caught the wrong key sorry. The only problem we have ha was alloy wheels changed due to slight corrosion where the weights were when balancing them from new, now we have stick on weights.Handbrake changed due to faulty ratchet and a door trim on window of rear door all mainly cosmetic and done under warranty. It would not put me off buying another. Heard about the survey but have not seen it tet but i did notice in a previos survey it was the cherokee and not the grand which let jeep down

The company "Warranty Direct" survey is appaernatly one of the biggest done.

The latest Survey was mentioned on tha mail web site and I guess the paper yesterday. The MD of Warranty Direct was also speaking on Radio 2 yesterday. With the long history of LR in the UK he stated that the average repair bills for LR came in at

Chris,

The Jeep 2.7 litre diesel engine is sourced from Mercedes - it's the 5 cylinder CDI that was fitted across the C and E class saloons and estates, and the ML class 4x4.

The engine produces about 170 - 180 bhp depending on year, and 400 to 440 NM torque, and in our C-class saloon was 100% bullet proof.

The 5 speed auto box is also a Mercedes part and super-smooth, and capable of handling even more torque (used on the new ML with the 3 litre V6 CDI and 550 NM torque) so reliability isn't an issue.

If you like the Jeep GC, then it might be worth while looking at the service history - and seeing if the autobox fluid needs changing soon - and then get the garage to do that and a full service as part of the deal.
